Jake De­laney beat Jean Marc Lawrence by one shot to win the Boys 16-17 Di­vi­sion at the 2011 na­tion­al ju­nior tri­als, which were held at the St An­drews Golf Club, Mo­ka, Mar­aval, on Sat­ur­day and the Mil­len­ni­um Lakes Golf and Coun­try Club in Trinci­ty on Sun­day. De­laney shot a 79 and 74 for a 153 to­tal, edg­ing Lawrence's 75 and 79 (154). 2011 Re­pub­lic Bank Caribbean Ju­nior Cham­pi­on An­drei Collins placed third with scores of 86 and 76 for 162. The tri­als are part of the pro­ce­dure used to se­lect the Na­tion­al team for the Caribbean Am­a­teur Ju­nior Golf Cham­pi­onships in Bar­ba­dos from Ju­ly 4–8. Tori Bap­tiste led the Girls 16-17 with scores 95 and 90 for a 185 to­tal. There was a tie for sec­ond place be­tween Ar­i­anne MacKen­zie and Alyssa Ra­hamat­u­la. Brit­tany Mar­quez, the 2011 Re­pub­lic Bank Caribbean Ju­nior Girls Cham­pi­on, was not avail­able for the tri­als as she at­tends school in the Unit­ed States while Na­talya Ra­hamat­u­la, who fin­ished sec­ond in the Re­pub­lic Bank Caribbean Ju­nior Open, had to with­draw due to ill­ness.

Once again, Wan Jun Lee was the leader of the Boys 14-15 cat­e­go­ry, shoot­ing an 86 on the first and fol­low­ing this up with a fan­tas­tic score of 69 on the sec­ond round. Di­nesh Jack­ree fin­ished in sec­ond place with rounds of 91 and 77 while Arvin Bhim came in third. Christi­na Fer­reira was the run­away win­ner in the Girls 14-15 with rounds of 88 and 86 (174) with Kezia Bai­ley plac­ing sec­ond with 199. The Boys 11-13 di­vi­sion saw Sachin Ku­mar in first po­si­tion with rounds of 77 and 76 (153). He was fol­lowed by Liam Bry­den and Sol Joan­ni of To­ba­go re­spec­tive­ly. Ys­abelle Lawrence was the clear-cut leader in the Girls 11-13, shoot­ing rounds of 94 and 92 for a to­tal of 186, while Ser­e­na MacKen­zie and Sab­ri­na Mitchell round­ed out the top three. The se­lec­tors met at the T&T Golf As­so­ci­a­tion's of­fice in Mo­ka last night to look at the cri­te­ria used for se­lec­tion, which in­clude the per­for­mances in these tri­als, the re­cent­ly con­clud­ed Re­pub­lic Bank Caribbean Ju­nior Open, tour­na­ments through­out the last year and past per­for­mances on Na­tion­al teams.
