Jorsling, Molino on winning side

Soca Warriors duo, Devorn Jorsling and Kevin Molino were both second-half introductions as Orlando City extended its four match unbeaten streak with a 2-1 road victory over FC New York in USL PRO play. Lawrence Olum got on the end of a Lewis Neal cross and headed the ball past the FC New York keeper for his first goal of the season in the 13th minute but in the 54th minute, FC New York took advantage of a defensive lapse by Orlando which resulted in Owen Morrison scoring the equaliser. Molino replaced Ian Fuller in the 61st minute and sparked the Lion attack, having a shot pushed just over the crossbar in the 72nd minute before Orlando finally broke through in the 81st minute when Lewis Neal, City’s leading goal scorer in the pre-season, notched his first of the year on a bending left-footed free kick. Jorsling was then introduced for Jamie Watson with three minutes left in the match as Orlando held on for the win to improve to ten points ahead of Saturday’s match with expansion club Dayton Dutch Lions at Miami Valley South Stadium.
...Daniel, ten man Union edge Sealy’s Quakes
National winger, Keon Daniel and his Philadelphia overcame a man disadvantage to edge Scott Sealy and the San Jose Earthquakes in the US Major Soccer League 1-0 on Saturday. In a game ruled by fouls and cards, it was fitting that the only goal of Saturday’s Philadelphia Union-San Jose Earthquakes contest came on a penalty kick. Despite playing a man down for the entire second half, the Union earned three hard-fought points with a 1-0 thanks to Sebastien Le Toux 76th minute penalty. This after Union midfielder Amobi Okugo dribbled into the box and attempted a cross that appeared to hit San Jose defender Jason Hernandez in the hand. Sealy, who has not featured for T&T in over two years was replaced by Bobby Convey in the 58th minute. The Union (4-1-1), now in first place in the Eastern Conference, take on the Portland Timbers on Friday night.
Shea stuns Birchall’s Galaxy
FC Dallas midfielder Brek Shea scored with two minutes left to play to hand the home side a 2-1 victory over the LA Galaxy on a stormy night at Pizza Hut Park. Fabian Castillo notched his first MLS goal two minutes after halftime by looping home from inside the penalty area, but Landon Donovan equalised five minutes later by poking home at the far post. Lightning storms drove the players from the field for more than a hour with just a few minutes left on the clock. Four minutes before the final whistle, T&T midfielder, Christopher Birchall was introduced for David Beckham but within two minutes Shea snatched all three points for FCD as his cross drifted into the far side netting.
James’ Crew slip past Whitecaps 2-1
Soca Warriors’ defender Julius James and his Columbus Crew continued their good start to the season as Emilio Rentería scored nine minutes apart in the second half to in a 2-1 triumph over Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday at Crew Stadium. Rentería, who scored his first of the season in the Crew’s last match at Toronto FC, drew a penalty and converted it in the 50th minute then took a deft through ball from Dejan Rusmir to again beat Vancouver goalkeeper Jay Nolly. It was an important insurance goal because Vancouver’s 17-year-old Omar Salgado, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft scored in his first start in the 69th minute with a header after playing 19 minutes in three prior games. With the win, the Crew (3-1-3) ran their unbeaten streak to 3-0-3 and next meets Seattle Sounders on Saturday.
