University of T&T's Curtis Humphreys will put his men's Open Division on the line when the 2011 Silver Bowl Tournament Open Divisions hosted by the T&T Table Tennis Association serves off at the Central Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Chagaunas from 9.30 am tomorrow. However, Humphreys will not have it all his way as he is expected to face quality opposition in the form of former Caribbean champion Kevin Farley of Barbados, US-based Yuvraj Dookeram, top seeded players Lionel Darceuil (Arima Hawks), Reeza Burke (Arima Hawks) and reigning national champion Michael Nanton (D'abadie Youths). In the women's category, a new champion will be crowned as last year's winner Natalie Montes (Arima Hawks) will not be defending her throne due to work commitments.
This will leave door open for Edwards-sisters' Aleena and (UTT) and Astra Edwards-Burnett (UTT), Linda Partap-Boodhan (Arima Hawks) and reigning Classified A-Class champion to tussle it out for top honours. Brittany Joseph (Arima Hawks) will attempt to continue her dominance form in the Under-13 girls category but Arun Roopnarine will not be able to contest boys Under-13 after he was promoted to the Under-15 category. This means that Aaron Wilson (Carenage Blasters) after acquiring three bronze medals at the recent 2011 Caribbean Pre-Cadet Championship will still have his hands full with challenges from top seeded players Marc Pillai (Carenage Blasters) and Amresh Mungal (PowerGen).
