Preysal finished third in the domestic T20 cricket competition, when they defeated First Citizens Clarke Road by 66 runs, in the third place play-off at Guaracara Park in Pointe-a-Pierre yesterday. A good crowd was on hand to witness the prelude to the grand finals, and Preysal did not disappoint, posting a massive 204 for two in their allotted 20 overs. Their bowlers then restricted Clarke Road to 138 for seven off their 20 overs.
The star of the show was Kjorn Ottley who struck 82 in an opening stand of 111 with Guyanese Trevon Griffith. The duo had the Clarke Road boys chasing leather for the most part. Griffith was the first to go, falling for 63 made in 43 balls, six fours and three sixes. Another Guyanese Derwain Christian joined Ottley and the two added 93 runs for the second wicket. They were parted on the final delivery when Ottley was dismissed.
His faced 52 balls and hammered six fours and five sixes. Christian was unbeaten on 51 off 25 balls with four fours and two sixes. When Clarke Road took to the crease, wickets fell regularly. Their main contribution come from Sean Siloch with 43 from 33 balls. He struck one four and two sixes. Danza Hyatt got 26 from 26 balls while pick of the bowlers was leg-spinner Yannic Carriah who ended with 3/31. For their efforts Preysal pocketed $50,000.
