The Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation commenced another edition of its "C" License Coaching Course in conjunction with the Dutch KNVB in South Trinidad, yesterday. This particular course caters for some thirty coaches from the Southern Football Association and runs until Friday at the Rousillac Recreation Grounds and Community Center. Speaking at the opening ceremony yesterday, Southern Football Association General Secretary, Alexandrine Procope, commended the south coaches for their full turnout and thanked the TTFF for choosing Rousillac as the first stop in taking the game to the regional bodies across the country.
The group is made up of coaches for all levels of southern football and includes former national players Joel Bailey, Kenrick Fleary and woman player Tamara Watson. Southern FA Technical Director Muhammed Isa encouraged participants to work hard this week so that they can assist in bringing back south to the glory days of the early 70's."We would like to have more south teams qualify for the TTFF Super League and this course offers coaches the opportunity to learn and upgrade themselves," explained Isa. Also speaking at the opening ceremony was SFA Vice President Richard Quan Chan, who is also a former national football and hockey player. Quan Chan encouraged the coaches to motivate the players so that "passion will return to the game."
"When I played we were so eager to play that we trained on our own when the team was not training. Today before a player kicks a ball he wants to know what he is getting, stated Quan Chan. "You coaches, with the help of your Instructors, must find a way to motivate the players to re-ignite that passion again," added Quan Chan. Course coordinator Jamaal Shabazz stated that he was impressed with the infrastructure at the Rousillac Community Centre. "The infrastructure here in Rousillac is quite good and with a bit more work this could become a high class facility," stated Shabazz. The Course will be conducted by TTFF Instructors Anton Corneal, Rajeesh Latchoo, Richard Hood and Marlon Charles.
