Ma Pau Char­i­ties con­tributed $5,000 to­wards Ako Kel­lar's dream of mak­ing it to the 2012 Olympics in the sport of cy­cling. Kel­lar, an ac­com­plished cy­clist, has rep­re­sent­ed T&T in com­pe­ti­tion through­out Eu­rope, North, South and Cen­tral Amer­i­ca. Among his ac­com­plish­ments, he has been the Pan Amer­i­can Cham­pi­onship Sil­ver Medal­ist for 2008 and 2000 as well as the South­ern Games In­ter­na­tion­al Sprint Cham­pi­on of 2000.

The team that he is now part of has been in ex­is­tence for the past five years and this year he is par­tic­i­pat­ing in the Pan Amer­i­can Games in Colom­bia and Mex­i­co as well as in the World Cup in hopes that he qual­i­fy for the up­com­ing Sum­mer Olympic Games in 2012.

The life of a pro­fes­sion­al ath­lete is very de­mand­ing and the club has es­ti­mat­ed that its ath­letes need rough­ly a month­ly stipend of $5,000 so that their sports­men may be able to ded­i­cate their time to­wards train­ing and com­pe­ti­tion. Ma Pau Char­i­ties is pleased to be part of Kel­lar's bid to take part in the 2012 Olympics and ful­ly sup­ports de­vel­op­ment in sports in T&T.
