Ma Pau Charities contributed $5,000 towards Ako Kellar's dream of making it to the 2012 Olympics in the sport of cycling. Kellar, an accomplished cyclist, has represented T&T in competition throughout Europe, North, South and Central America. Among his accomplishments, he has been the Pan American Championship Silver Medalist for 2008 and 2000 as well as the Southern Games International Sprint Champion of 2000.
The team that he is now part of has been in existence for the past five years and this year he is participating in the Pan American Games in Colombia and Mexico as well as in the World Cup in hopes that he qualify for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in 2012.
The life of a professional athlete is very demanding and the club has estimated that its athletes need roughly a monthly stipend of $5,000 so that their sportsmen may be able to dedicate their time towards training and competition. Ma Pau Charities is pleased to be part of Kellar's bid to take part in the 2012 Olympics and fully supports development in sports in T&T.
