The North Zone Basketball League 2011 season will jump off on September 11 with some of the top teams participating. At the Zone's first general council meeting since its election of a new Executive Commission back on June 2, held on Thursday evening at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo, details of the zone's requirements for the upcoming season were announced and discussed among the league's membership. On the agenda, five sub committees and it's personnel were announced and confirmed to execute the operatons of the league.
There will be an Organisation and Development Committee, Youth Development Committee, Disciplinary Committee, Marketing Committee and a Technical Committee. Clubs wishing to compete for the 2011 season are required pay a registration fee of $700, while individual players will pay $100 each to register. Each team must register a maximum of 25 players. Teams and players in the Under-19 and under-15 teams are exempted from paying a registration fee. Registration began on Thursday and will run until September 1. A change has been made to the issuing of players identification passes. All players for the upcoming season may use their national identification card to gain entry to the playing venue on game night.
The coaches, however, will have to wear passes on match days. It is a mandatory league requirement.
Each team will be given three passes. One for the head coach and two passes for assistant coaches.
As announced, their will be a $500 fine for those appearing late for the league's opening ceremony while no-shows will be penalised with a $800 fine. The next general council meeting will be held at the Hasely Crawford Stadium LOC Conference Room on July 7 at 6:30 pm.
