T&Ts boys' and girls wa­ter po­lo teams were both beat­en in their open­ing match­es by hosts Puer­to Ri­co at the 27th Cen­tral Amer­i­can and Caribbean Swim­ming Con­fed­er­a­tion (CC­CAN) Cham­pi­onships in Mayaguez, Puer­to Ri­co on Tues­day night. In the boys' en­counter Puer­to Ri­co de­feat­ed team T&T 13-8, while the girls' went un­der to the host coun­try, 10-13.

Yes­ter­day, T&T was ex­pect­ed to meet Mex­i­co, which was beat­en 16-4 and 7-5 by Puer­to Ri­co's boys' and girls' team. For the T&T's boys' Daniel Tardieu led the way with three goals while Rus­sell Fer­reira, who opened the scor­ing in the match added a pair. How­ev­er, the Puer­to Ri­cans took ad­van­tage of the ab­sence of first choice T&T goal­keep­er Se­bastien Van Reeken due to visa prob­lems and got six goals from Fer­nan­do Za­yas on stand-in goal­keep­er Adri­an Hinds.Ian Salano added three and Eler­ic Curent and Doblero, two each for the win­ners.
