P/Rico downs T&T water polo teams
T&Ts boys’ and girls water polo teams were both beaten in their opening matches by hosts Puerto Rico at the 27th Central American and Caribbean Swimming Confederation (CCCAN) Championships in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on Tuesday night. In the boys’ encounter Puerto Rico defeated team T&T 13-8, while the girls’ went under to the host country, 10-13.
Yesterday, T&T was expected to meet Mexico, which was beaten 16-4 and 7-5 by Puerto Rico’s boys’ and girls’ team. For the T&T’s boys’ Daniel Tardieu led the way with three goals while Russell Ferreira, who opened the scoring in the match added a pair. However, the Puerto Ricans took advantage of the absence of first choice T&T goalkeeper Sebastien Van Reeken due to visa problems and got six goals from Fernando Zayas on stand-in goalkeeper Adrian Hinds.Ian Salano added three and Eleric Curent and Doblero, two each for the winners.
