Carson and Hills team up (again!) for the Maiden Stakes over six furlongs at Haydock today-Letsgoroundagain! Old-timers will remember how often Willie and Barry would 'do the biz' and now grandson William rides for veteran, 74-year-old Barry, who intends handing his training license to son Charles, in the not too distant future. That probably means this one-time magical combination will be preserved for at least another decade. What goes round, comes round, eh?
Thrice-raced Letsgoroundagain is a numeric 'cert,' with form figures of 432 and judged on his recent second to Ladykin over a similar distance at Ayr, this progressive Redback will be a tough rival in an intriguing nine-runner race. With three places on offer and Letsgoroundagain unlikely to be favourite, this will definitely be the second leg of my each-way double. First is Moone's My Name, one of 13 'decs' for the Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs of Warwick where, following plenty of rain, ground conditions are forecast 'good!' Apart from Chokidar and possibly Sole Dancer, there's no serious rival to thrice-raced Moone's My Name, placed in all outings to date and strongly-fancied by the Ralph Beckett camp.
More than 'twenty grand' is on offer for the listed Dragon stakes, over five furlongs at Sandown. Look no further for the winner than Kohala. David Barron isn't one to journey thoroughbreds long distances from his Thirsk base without good reason. He'll have been pleased with Kohala at Royal Ascot last month, with a finishing position of fifth in the highly-prestigious group two 'Queen Mary' and this represents an outstanding opportunity for the Kodiac filly to confirm the good impression given to date. A solid bet, especially with Graham Gibbons on our side. None better!
