The Shotokan Karate Workshop conducted by Sensei Lex Springer (6th Dan) was a major success.The seminar was held at Mt Lambert School of Karate (TASK) for advanced karate students on July 10th.Guest instructor was Sensei Deryck Taylor, (3rd Dan) the New York-USA director for the Trinidad and Tobago Karate Federation (TTKF) and student Sensei Springer.Participants were taught advanced kumite (sparring) techniques for one point (ippon) and three point (Sanbon) kumite, advanced kata (formal exercise). They were also introduced to proper stretching techniques and informal history of shotokan karate.Among the instructors who took part were T'ony Bliss, Alexander Hanooman, Maureen Springer, and Gerald PerkinsMany former members of Trinidad and Tobago Associated Schools of Karate (TASK) are now seeking out Sensei Springer and his wife Maureen to resume their practice.

T&T born expert and third degree black belt, Jacob Greasley has opened a traditional martial arts and karate school, Jikan Dojo in St Mary's Christ Church Wanstead, London, England.The student of Sensei Darryl Williams, head of the Bassai Karate Dojo International (USA) and Vice President of the World United Karate Organization (WUKO), has over 20 years experience. At the Jikan Dojo, Sensei Greasley provides tuition in Karate, Jiu Jitsu and self defence.Greasley officially represents the T&T Karate Federation (T&TKF) in the UK and represented the federation at the WUKO World Congress in Sicily, Italy. He is also persuing his WUKO refereeing certification.
