The Shotokan Karate Work­shop con­duct­ed by Sen­sei Lex Springer (6th Dan) was a ma­jor suc­cess.The sem­i­nar was held at Mt Lam­bert School of Karate (TASK) for ad­vanced karate stu­dents on Ju­ly 10th.Guest in­struc­tor was Sen­sei Deryck Tay­lor, (3rd Dan) the New York-USA di­rec­tor for the Trinidad and To­ba­go Karate Fed­er­a­tion (TTKF) and stu­dent Sen­sei Springer.Par­tic­i­pants were taught ad­vanced ku­mite (spar­ring) tech­niques for one point (ip­pon) and three point (San­bon) ku­mite, ad­vanced ka­ta (for­mal ex­er­cise). They were al­so in­tro­duced to prop­er stretch­ing tech­niques and in­for­mal his­to­ry of shotokan karate.Among the in­struc­tors who took part were T'ony Bliss, Alexan­der Hanooman, Mau­reen Springer, and Ger­ald Perkins­Many for­mer mem­bers of Trinidad and To­ba­go As­so­ci­at­ed Schools of Karate (TASK) are now seek­ing out Sen­sei Springer and his wife Mau­reen to re­sume their prac­tice.

Greasly opeens karateschool in Eng­land

T&T born ex­pert and third de­gree black belt, Ja­cob Greasley has opened a tra­di­tion­al mar­tial arts and karate school, Jikan Do­jo in St Mary's Christ Church Wanstead, Lon­don, Eng­land.The stu­dent of Sen­sei Dar­ryl Williams, head of the Bas­sai Karate Do­jo In­ter­na­tion­al (USA) and Vice Pres­i­dent of the World Unit­ed Karate Or­ga­ni­za­tion (WUKO), has over 20 years ex­pe­ri­ence. At the Jikan Do­jo, Sen­sei Greasley pro­vides tu­ition in Karate, Jiu Jit­su and self de­fence.Greasley of­fi­cial­ly rep­re­sents the T&T Karate Fed­er­a­tion (T&TKF) in the UK and rep­re­sent­ed the fed­er­a­tion at the WUKO World Con­gress in Sici­ly, Italy. He is al­so per­su­ing his WUKO ref­er­ee­ing cer­ti­fi­ca­tion.
