Marcano fires hat-trick past Paradise

Former national standout, Albert Marcano scored a hat-trick as Malvern won for only the second time in the  T&T Hockey Board Men’s Championship Division, 6-0 over Paradise at the National Hockey Centre, Tacarigua on Sunday. Marcano opened the scoring as early as the eighth minute while he made it 2-0 three minutes later before completing his treble in the 46th minute for Malvern. The other scorers were Darryl Hume (28th), Albert’s son Tariq Marcano (43rd and Jamaican, Marlon Jackson in the 53rd minute. Despite the win, Malvern stayed sixth on the table with 12 points from 11 matches while Paradise remained bottom of the standing with five points from 12 matches. A day earlier, Paradise battled to an exciting 3-3 draw with Corona Fatima. Alan Henderson scored two goals for Paradise in the 12th and 27th minutes while Jarel Thompson got the other in the 17th minute. For Fatima, former national foward, Dean Nives also scored twice, in the 15th and 21st, and Jordan Vieira, the other, in the 11th minute.
