T&T's boys and girls teams will leave to­day for Puer­to Ri­co to com­pete in the UA­NA Pan Amer­i­can Un­der-17 Wa­ter Po­lo Cham­pi­onships which takes place from Fri­day to Au­gust 12 in San Juan, Puer­to Ri­co. This is the tenth edi­tion for the girls while the boys will be in­volved in the 16th edi­tion. This com­pe­ti­tion is the tough­est ju­nior com­pe­ti­tion in the Amer­i­c­as with the USA, Cana­da, Brazil, Puer­to Ri­co, Cu­ra­cao, Ar­genti­na, Colom­bia, Mex­i­co, Venezuela and Pe­ru all tak­ing part.

The Cham­pi­onships are clas­si­fi­ca­tion tour­na­ments for the FI­NA Ju­nior World Cham­pi­onships to be held in Perth, Aus­tralia, next year. T & T had a cred­itable per­for­mance among the boys in the CON­SANAT Cham­pi­onships where they placed fifth and was the on­ly team for the tour­na­ment to de­feat hosts and even­tu­al win­ners Colom­bia. The team is ex­pect­ed to have some warm up match­es against Puer­to Ri­co and Cana­da be­fore of­fi­cial com­pe­ti­tion starts on Fri­day. The teams will re­turn home on Au­gust 13.
