Junior archer Nihkil Kanhai broke six local records during a qualifying tournament hosted by the T&T Target Archery Federation (TTTAF) for the upcoming Costa Rica Cup world ranking tournament.Kanhai completely obliterated all existing local records for the FITA round.The new junior records are as follows with the previous in brackets:
90 metres -268 (231), 70 metres -315 (274), 50 metres -275 (273), 30 metres -314 (307).
Kanhai's impressive performance gave him the 90 metres -268 (267) and 70 metres -315 (308) senior division records and an overall total 1172 (1085).Kanhai will be part of a five-man team that will represent T&T at the Costa Rica Cup from the 11 to 16 in San Jose, Costa Rica.The T&T team includes Nazimine Roopnarine who will compete in the women's recurve division along with 2010 CAC and Commonwealth Games compound team world top 100-ranked George Vire, Rakesh Sookoo and Hasmath Ali.Ali will also serve as team manager.
