Soca Warriors defender Julius James was among the goal scorers as Columbus Crew came from behind to beat New England Revolution 3–1 at Crew Stadium on Saturday to stay top of the US Major League Soccer Eastern Conference. The Crew (10–7–7) had countered a goal from Benny Feilhaber in the 45th minute with an own goal from New England (4–11–9) defender Kevin Alston in the 54th. A Josh Gardner corner then found the head of leaping centre-back Julius James for a 2–1 lead in the 75th minute before Emilio Renteria added an insurance goal six minutes later.
Speaking after the match James said, "I hit it down because I was so close to the goal," "I didn't hit it cleanly enough as a laser. I tried to focus on getting it over. Josh put it in an excellent spot for me. My first goal for the Columbus Crew is a blessing for me." Crew coach Robert Warzycha was delighted as well."That goal was perfect timing," Warzycha said. "The service was good. The run was good. I'm very happy we scored the first one." With the win, the Crew improved 37 points from 24 matches at the top of the Eastern Conference, three ahead of Keon Daniel's Philadelphia Union which has a match in hand.
