The Borough of Arima will be hosting a draughts competition tomorrow at the Arima Girls Government School with the first round set at 10.30am. Registration will take place on the competition day itself from 9.45am-10.20am and costs $50 per player. No late registration will be accepted in an effort to maintain the match schedule. There will be five rounds of SWISS-system competition each lasting for 1 hour and 30 minutes, with a 45-minute lunch break starting from 12 pm. Players will be placed in either one of two classes, class A or class B, based on the player's history in the game and performances in previous tournaments.
A women's group is not available however, interested women players can enter the B class. There are $2500 in prizes to be won in class A with a first of $1200 up for grabs. In class B, there are $1500 in prizes to be won with a first prize of $600 available. The top three finishers in either class would also receive trophies. Players and guests are advised that they should be at least casually dressed and no obscene language or smoking will be allowed on the premises.
