If you ever dreamed of becoming a well-known international model, your dream might not be too far from becoming a reality. How, you ask? Well, the Elite Model Look Caribbean is looking for that fresh face and they have chosen the beautiful island of T&T among several countries to find those special girls. According to John Bilboa, director for Elite Models Latin America and the Caribbean, Elite Model Look is the official model contest of the world renowned Elite Model Management held in 55 countries worldwide. The contest was launched in 1983 and has been responsible for the discovery of top models such as Cindy Crawford and Gisele Bundchen. The agency also sparked the careers of Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Iman, Brooke Shields and many other top models who are household names.
Bilboa said casting was presently taking place in eight other countries; Jamaica, Antigua, St Vincent, St Lucia, Barbados, Guyana, Haiti and Grenada. He added that casting for entrants in T&T was scheduled to take place from August 23-25, but due to the limited state of emergency and curfew declared by the Government, they were forced to postpone those dates. However, he did indicate that the new dates for casting were yesterday August 29 at Gulf City Mall, La Romaine, and today August 30, at Fiesta Plaza, MovieTowne, Port-of-Spain, between the hours of 3 pm-6 pm.
If you've got it
All modelling agencies have criteria when searching for models, so it's no surprise that Elite Model Look is asking for specifics. "We are looking for girls between the ages of 14 and 22 with a minimum height of five feet, eight inches and they should also be slender in physique," he disclosed. Asked if those entering should have prior experience in modelling, Bilboa assured no experience is needed but established models can also enter as it is an open casting. He explained that the agency will be choosing approximately between one to three contestants from each country. He said overall they were aiming for 22 contestants to participate in the grand finale carded to take place on November 12, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain.
