If you ever dreamed of be­com­ing a well-known in­ter­na­tion­al mod­el, your dream might not be too far from be­com­ing a re­al­i­ty. How, you ask? Well, the Elite Mod­el Look Caribbean is look­ing for that fresh face and they have cho­sen the beau­ti­ful is­land of T&T among sev­er­al coun­tries to find those spe­cial girls. Ac­cord­ing to John Bil­boa, di­rec­tor for Elite Mod­els Latin Amer­i­ca and the Caribbean, Elite Mod­el Look is the of­fi­cial mod­el con­test of the world renowned Elite Mod­el Man­age­ment held in 55 coun­tries world­wide. The con­test was launched in 1983 and has been re­spon­si­ble for the dis­cov­ery of top mod­els such as Cindy Craw­ford and Gise­le Bund­chen. The agency al­so sparked the ca­reers of Nao­mi Camp­bell, Lin­da Evan­ge­lista, Iman, Brooke Shields and many oth­er top mod­els who are house­hold names.

Bil­boa said cast­ing was present­ly tak­ing place in eight oth­er coun­tries; Ja­maica, An­tigua, St Vin­cent, St Lu­cia, Bar­ba­dos, Guyana, Haiti and Grena­da. He added that cast­ing for en­trants in T&T was sched­uled to take place from Au­gust 23-25, but due to the lim­it­ed state of emer­gency and cur­few de­clared by the Gov­ern­ment, they were forced to post­pone those dates. How­ev­er, he did in­di­cate that the new dates for cast­ing were yes­ter­day Au­gust 29 at Gulf City Mall, La Ro­maine, and to­day Au­gust 30, at Fi­es­ta Plaza, Movi­eTowne, Port-of-Spain, be­tween the hours of 3 pm-6 pm.

All mod­el­ling agen­cies have cri­te­ria when search­ing for mod­els, so it's no sur­prise that Elite Mod­el Look is ask­ing for specifics. "We are look­ing for girls be­tween the ages of 14 and 22 with a min­i­mum height of five feet, eight inch­es and they should al­so be slen­der in physique," he dis­closed. Asked if those en­ter­ing should have pri­or ex­pe­ri­ence in mod­el­ling, Bil­boa as­sured no ex­pe­ri­ence is need­ed but es­tab­lished mod­els can al­so en­ter as it is an open cast­ing. He ex­plained that the agency will be choos­ing ap­prox­i­mate­ly be­tween one to three con­tes­tants from each coun­try. He said over­all they were aim­ing for 22 con­tes­tants to par­tic­i­pate in the grand fi­nale card­ed to take place on No­vem­ber 12, at the Hy­att Re­gency Ho­tel on Wright­son Road, Port-of-Spain.
