The John O'Brien trained five-year-old roan-horse, Bruceon­th­eloose made win­ning the fea­ture-Grade One–Caribbean Cham­pi­ons Stakes look ridicu­lous­ly easy, romp­ing home by six lengths un­der No­bel Abrego. With this vic­to­ry, Bruceon­the loose joins Top of The Class as the on­ly hors­es in the his­to­ry of lo­cal rac­ing to win Caribbean Cham­pi­ons Stakes on three oc­ca­sions. Con­fi­dent­ly rid­den by No­bel Abrego, the John O'Brien trained horse tracked the pace set by Per­fect Cir­cle and Touch D Road be­fore cruis­ing in­to the lead at the far turn and turn­ing the race in­to a pro­ces­sion. The dom­i­nance of the Tres Ami­gos owned horse was there for all to see, as Bruceon­th­eloose won as he pleased from Per­fect Cir­cle with Sam's Hero run­ning on for third and Franken­stein in fourth po­si­tion.

Bruceon­th­eloose record­ed the time of 1:54. 00 for his can­ter on Re­pub­lic Day at San­ta Rosa Park, Ari­ma. Glenn Mendez sad­dled the first two past the post in The Gallery Di­a­mond Stakes over 1,350 me­tres. How­ev­er, Sig­nal Alert did not read be­tween the lines and beat his sta­ble­mate by a short-head to snatch the $90,000 first prize cheque. The Mendez pair bat­tled all the way up the straight, with Sig­nal Alert get­ting home a short -head ahead of his sta­ble­mate. Sig­nal Alert record­ed the time of 1:20.2 for the trip. Boo­gie Blues stayed on strong­ly for third.

John O'Brien con­tin­ued to dom­i­nate the Caribbean Sprint Cham­pi­onship and Law­break­er, with Bri­an Boodram­s­ing astride, coast­ed home for an im­pres­sive 2 1/2 lengths suc­cess from sta­ble­mate B's Pas­sion. The David Ojar owned/trained Sky­line Pi­geon was third. Law­break­er reg­is­tered the time of 1:11.4 for his vic­to­ry. Young, Bar­ba­di­an ap­pren­tice, An­to­nio White­hall showed that he had great tal­ent, as he rode two win­ners on his first vis­it to San­ta Rosa Park. He pi­lot­ed Su­per Grey and Get It All for train­er Harold Chadee. He shared the rid­ing spot­light with Bri­an Boodram­s­ing who al­so land­ed two win­ners for John O'Brien, who was the day's lead­ing train­er, sad­dling three win­ners.
