A 33-year-old mother died on Monday after complaining of pains from a C-section performed at the San Fernando General Hospital earlier this month. Tara Mohammed was discovered dead by relatives at their Saunders Trace, Moruga, home shortly after midday yesterday. Relatives said she was last seen alive around 11.40 pm on Monday.
An autopsy performed yesterday at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, showed she died of acute pulmonary embolism. This is a blockage of the main artery of the lung or one of its branches by a substance that has travelled from elsewhere in the body through the bloodstream. Research shows in most cases the substance may be a blood clot.
