Trinity Masters Swim Club, is registering its club with the Amateur Swimming Association of T&T (ASATT), and has formed a new executive in an effort to revitalise Masters swimming both locally and internationally.
The founding members one of the oldest masters swimming clubs in T&T are Joey Kauffman, Mervyn Marquez and Gordon Borde. Many of the executive/committee members have been consistent performers in their Masters age groups over the last 20 years, and have been dedicated to swimming from its inception.
In the Maracas Open Water Classic on Sunday, there was a great increase in the number of Masters swimmers taking part and participating in the 2,650m and 5,000m races. Borde, Jacqueline Jodhan, Louis Martin and Linden Scott all won their races in their respective age categories, and many of the older swimmers such as Bruce Pereira and Hatto Pidduck also participated, along with stalwart supporter, Glen Wilkes. Masters Swimming Club has set out a strategic plan for the way forward, and has incorporated the Maracas Open Water Classic into the Blue Waters Series, which includes open water swimming events in Nevis, Cayman Islands and the Turks and Caicos.
