Po­lice stayed in the hunt for two ti­tles in the San­ta Cruz Foot­ball Or­gan­i­sa­tion's Mon­te­co Cup af­ter a 2-1 knock­out quar­ter­fi­nal win over Fire Ser­vice at the Bri­an Lara Recre­ation Ground, Sam Bou­caud, Up­per San­ta Cruz on Tues­day. Christo­pher Samuel and Kevin Titre were both on tar­get for the Law­men, who are al­so through to the League Cup fi­nal against Back Street while Mar­cus Chan­dool got the lone re­ply for Fire Ser­vice. In an­oth­er quar­ter­fi­nal, con­test­ed on Thurs­day, San Juan/San Juan and Riv­er Plate bat­tled to a 2-2 draw to force a re­play to­day at 2.30 pm. Mar­vin Joseph and Richard De Couteau scored for San Juan/San Juan while Ker­ry Vic­tor and Garth Ja­cob got Riv­er Plate items.

Back Street al­so kept in the hunt to be crowned dou­ble-cham­pi­ons af­ter an 8-0 maul­ing of a de­plet­ed North Coast Unit­ed in their round-of-16 re­play af­ter their first meet­ing drew 2-2 be­fore bad light stopped penal­ty kicks from tak­ing place. Jer­wyn "Bal­ly' Balt­haz fired in a hat-trick to lead the on­slaught for the home-town favourites Back Street while cap­tain Ster­ling O'Brien and Ja­mal Maughn chipped in with two each, and Dex­ter Thorn­hill, the oth­er. Back Street will re­turn to ac­tion to­mor­row to face North­ern Area Sports Club (NASC) in its quar­ter­fi­nal. To­day, Dathea and Pi­p­i­ol face off in the oth­er quar­ter­fi­nal from 4.30 pm. At stake in the League Cup fi­nal is the $10,000 win­ner cheque­while sec­ond gets $5,000, third $2,500 and fourth, $1,500.
