Management of the T&T team in India for the Nokia Champions League is fully behind skipper Daren Ganga.
This was revealed by manager Omar Khan yesterday. Khan said management noted the comments questioning Ganga's leadership, after two losses in the tournament. "Daren has come under the gun from some of the commentators and even former cricketers back home for his tactics in the last two games. Some are even going as far as to call for his head but the management of this team is sticking behind him.
"He is the captain and we are in the midst of a tournament, so we are fully supportive of him. Decisions have been made at the management level and we take full responsibility for whatever mistakes the public might observe."
Khan said it was pre-mature to seek the removal of Ganga. "I think the calls are premature because Daren has served this country well and continues to do so. "A number of people have come down on him after his decision to use Ravi Rampaul for the Super Over but according to our stats and information, he was the best man suited for that over. He is our best death bowler and before going for 17 runs in the last over against New South Wales, he went for two runs and no run in the last overs of the previous two matches. "This team remains united in support of the captain and they are looking to turn around their fortunes up here."
