St An­tho­ny's Col­lege will be hop­ing the in­clement weath­er stays away when it trav­els to Fa­ti­ma Ground, Mu­cu­rapo Road, with the aim of re­tain­ing its North Zone BGTT/First Cit­i­zens Sec­ondary Schools Foot­ball League zon­al ti­tle. How­ev­er, while the heavy show­ers stood its in way of a top-of-ta­ble du­el with East Mu­cu­rapo Sec­ondary on Sat­ur­day forc­ing a can­cel­la­tion, the "West­moor­ing Tigers" will hope to­day's op­po­nent don't prove such a dif­fi­cult hur­dle from 3.45 pm. The "Tigers", one of two teams in the en­tire SS­FL yet to drop a point lead sev­en-team with max­i­mum 27 points from nine match­es, four ahead of East Mu­cu­rapo which has played a match more.

For St An­tho­ny's, the task is sim­ple: avoid de­feat and it will make a suc­cess­ful de­fence of its zon­al crown and se­cure a spot in the na­tion­al "Big-Five" semi­fi­nal. How­ev­er, a win for "Com­pre" as East Mu­cu­rapo is known will bring it to with­in a point of the leader and keep the ti­tle race open, for at least an­oth­er round.

When both teams met in the first round, St An­tho­ny's came away with a 3-2 win at home af­ter trail­ing 2-1 at the half. Queen's Roy­al Col­lege and Fa­ti­ma Col­lege meet in the oth­er re-sched­uled North Zone match at QRC Ground. The East Zone sched­uled was the lone one to be com­plete­ly washed out on Sat­ur­day and to­day, the quar­tet of El Do­ra­do East Sec­ondary (18 pts), Ari­ma North Sec­ondary (18pts), de­fend­ing zon­al and na­tion­al cham­pi­on, St Au­gus­tine Sec­ondary (16 pts) and San Juan North Sec­ondary (15 pts) will re­sume their ti­tle pur­suit.

To­day, Ari­ma North trav­els to Trin­i­ty East; St Au­gus­tine tack­les cel­lar-placed Barataria South at Bourg Mu­la­tresse Ground, San Juan, and El Do­ra­do East and San Juan North face off in a key en­counter at Lar­ry Gomes Sta­di­um, Mal­abar. On Sat­ur­day, Cara­pichaima East Sec­ondary whipped ri­vals Cou­va West Sec­ondary 4-1 to se­cure an eight straight Cen­tral Zone ti­tle and with it, a place in the na­tion­al "Big-Five" quar­ter­fi­nal against the yet to be de­ter­mined East Zone cham­pi­on on Oc­to­ber 25 at the Ato Boldon Sta­di­um, Cou­va. How­ev­er, the match be­tween Gas­par­il­lo Sec­ondary and Pre­sen­ta­tion which was aban­doned at the half at Pre­sen­ta­tion, Ch­agua­nas, with the vis­i­tors ahead 4-0 will al­so be resched­uled.
