With rac­ing be­ing tak­en off the turf, the John O'Brien-trained Law­break­er, which was en­tered for the main track on­ly, stole the spot­light when win­ning the fea­ture three-year-olds and over hors­es rat­ed 90-70, rac­ing over 1,100 me­tres at San­ta Rosa Park in Ari­ma. As was ex­pect­ed, the O'Brien-trained Joezel was a non-starter, leav­ing 12 run­ners.How­ev­er, pun­ters made Law­break­er the 4–5 favourite and they nev­er had an anx­ious mo­ment.

Bri­an Boodram­s­ing had the Mo­hali Sta­bles-owned geld­ing track­ing the ear­ly pace set by Sikhara and In­vic­tus.Go­ing to the 500 me­tres mark­er, Boodram­s­ing sent Law­break­er in­to the lead from In­vic­tus, Sikhara and Slip­pery Sam, as Big Mass wait­ed for a run on the rail.Once in line for home, Law­break­er was asked to quick­en and he did so in style, pulling two lengths clear of In­vic­tus, with Big Mass run­ning on strong­ly.

How­ev­er, Law­break­er was not for catch­ing and stopped the clock in 1:05.4 for his one length vic­to­ry.The Mani­ram Ma­haraj trained Big Mass was sec­ond with In­vic­tus third.Rid­ing ho­n­ours for the day went to Boodram­s­ing, who rode two win­ners.Train­ing ho­n­ours for the day fell to Lester Alex­is, who sad­dled two win­ners-Pre­cious Di­a­mond and Zen Mas­ter.Rac­ing con­tin­ues next Sat­ur­day with the run­ning of the SFA Breed­ers Stakes and the Garde One Stew­ards Cup.
