Chairman of the national cricket selection panel Dudnath Ramkessoon says that the replacement players in the T&T team must start delivering.Ramkessoon made his comments in light of T&T's loss to Jamaica in the finals of the Regional Super50 cricket tournament.T&T batting first was bowled out for 118 and lost the match by five wickets.According to Ramkessoon: "We should have gotten a minimum of 150 to 170 on that pitch and we would have had a chance. However, the batting continues to be a concern for us and it is something that we must look at carefully."
Ramkessoon said T&T missed the services of several top batsmen but this is no excuse. Missing from the T&T batting line-up were Adrian Barath (injured), Keiron Pollard (injured), Darren Bravo (West Indies duty), Lendl Simmons (West Indies duty) and Denesh Ramdin (West Indies duty)."We were missing several players but it is time that the bench deliver. Their approach to the game was not good and they have to start producing for us. If you look at Jason Mohammed, he was excellent."He approached the game with a lot of common sense and batted to suit the occasion. I think that the rest of the players should have learnt something from him, as he was in control of his game."
Mohammed was named player of the series for his consistent batting throughout. Also coming in for praise was off-spinner Sunil Narine, who took the most wickets and underlined his reputation as one of the best off-spinners in the Caribbean."Sunil Narine really bowled well again for us and I must say congratulations to him. He definitely has a bright future ahead of him and he would want to continue his good work and take his game forward."
