Pre­sen­ta­tion Col­lege San Fer­nan­do and Ves­signy Sec­ondary will kick-off the 2011 edi­tion of the Co­ca-Co­la In­ter­col Tour­na­ment.The de­fend­ing na­tion­al In­ter­col cham­pi­on Sig­nal Hill will be on a bye, along with To­ba­go league cham­pi­on Scar­bor­ough, for the first round.This was con­firmed at the pre­sen­ta­tion of the spon­sor's new lo­go for the up­com­ing tour­na­ment, at a press con­fer­ence held at Court­yard By Mar­riott, In­vaders Bay, yes­ter­day.The event was at­tend­ed by-pres­i­dent of the Sec­ondary Schools Foot­ball League Ew­ing Davis, and rep­re­sen­ta­tives of Co­ca-Co­la-Re­ber­to la Peira, Viel­ka Guz­man and Mar­lon Newal­lo.

Newal­lo, Co­ca Co­ca T&T's mar­ket­ing man­ag­er, spoke at the press con­fer­ence, reaf­firm­ing the brand's com­mit­ment to the pro­mo­tion of foot­ball in the coun­try.He said Co­ca-Co­la was com­mit­ted to pro­mot­ing ac­tive lifestyles among young peo­ple."Our brand con­tin­ues to in­vest in the youths of our coun­try, youths that be­lieve in sports as the right way to achieve suc­cess in life," Newal­lo said.Davis, then took the op­por­tu­ni­ty to thank Co­ca-Co­la for its sup­port of the league over the years.As con­firmed at the con­fer­ence, the Co­ca-Co­la In­ter­col will com­mence with a South Zone quar­ter­fi­nal dou­ble-head­er at the Man­nie Ramjohn Sta­di­um, Mara­bel­la on Mon­day. The first match be­tween Pre­sen­ta­tion and Ves­signy will kick off at 3 pm, fol­lowed by Na­pari­ma ver­sus St Bene­dicts.

Quar­ter­fi­nal match­es will con­tin­ue every­day from next Mon­day un­til Fri­day, in the re­spec­tive zones.The Zon­al semi­fi­nals will be played be­tween No­vem­ber 14 and 21. The Na­tion­al Quar­ter­fi­nals will com­mence on No­vem­ber 22, with the win­ner of the To­ba­go Zone tak­ing on the cham­pi­on of the South Zone at the Dwight Yorke Sta­di­um.The win­ner will ad­vance to the semi­fi­nal to take on the win­ner of the North Zone on No­vem­ber 25.On No­vem­ber 24, the top team in the East will chal­lenge the Cen­tral win­ners.The na­tion­al fi­nal will take place on No­vem­ber 29 at a venue to be an­nounced.Co­ca Co­la's fund­ing in­cludes spon­sor­ship of the func­tion­al cost of the In­ter­col tour­na­ment.Co­ca-Co­la has been af­fil­i­at­ed with the sport on an in­ter­na­tion­al lev­el since 1917 and has spon­sored the In­ter­col since 2009.
