T&T's Amer­i­can-based Lisa "Bad News" Brown would be ar­riv­ing tonight for her WI­BA world ti­tle fight against Pao­la Es­ther Her­rera of Colom­bia at the Queen's Park Oval next week Sat­ur­day. Arrange­ments are be­ing made for Brown to vis­it many of the schools and in­sti­tu­tions in the Mor­vant/Laven­tille area where she grew up and is ex­pect­ed to make cour­tesy calls on Pres­i­dent George Maxwell Richards and Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar. In­vi­ta­tions are ex­tend­ed to Mem­bers of par­lia­ment to be at ring­side when she bat­tles with the Colom­bian next week­end. Brown will round off her train­ing at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um dur­ing the com­ing week. A suc­cess­ful out­come in this fight will see her tak­ing on Chant­tall Mar­tinez of Pana­ma for the WBA Su­per Ban­tamweight ti­tle ear­ly in the new year at the Queen's Park Oval.

Mar­tinez won a con­tro­ver­sial de­ci­sion over Brown in Pana­ma in her last fight, af­ter Brown floored Mar­tinez in the eight round of that WBA world ti­tle fight. Brown is ex­pect­ed to win this one com­fort­ably be­fore go­ing af­ter Mar­tinez. Hav­ing ral­lied on her own world­wide for many years Brown is ea­ger to show her great box­ing skills and abil­i­ty to all of Trinidad and To­ba­go, and is hop­ing for a huge crowd ring­side to sup­port her. She will be sign­ing au­to­graphs on a date and a venue to be an­nounced.

Al­so, on the cards will be Guyana's tal­ent­ed and pow­er­ful punch­er Sean Corbin against Elias Ruiz of Colom­bia. Oth­er sup­port­ing bouts will in­clude lo­cal heavy­weight and na­tion­al cham­pi­on Ker­ston Man­swell and Kirt Sin­nette, while Bri­an George will make his de­but in bout against a win­less Eion Blue.

Box­ing pro­mot­er and man­ag­er Tans­ley Thomp­son has de­scribed Brown as, "un­doubt­ed­ly one of the most cel­e­brat­ed box­ers out of the Caribbean. Thomp­son, who is one of the sport vet­er­an pro­mot­ers and man­ag­er of Sure­fire Pro­mo­tions, al­so com­mend­ed the ef­forts of the T&T box­ing board for its as­sis­tance in the up­com­ing bout.
