The Bet­ting Levy Board has de­cid­ed that in the con­tin­ued ful­fill­ment of the Board's man­date to de­vel­op the lo­cal race-horse breed­ing in­dus­try, a new race with a to­tal purse of $500,000 will be added to the Clas­sic Di­ary in 2012.

The race will be open to T&T bred three-year-olds and it will be called the 'BLB San­ta Rosa Der­by'.It is pro­posed to stage the race on Au­gust 31, 2012, In­de­pen­dence Day. Ac­cord­ing­ly, there will be changes to the dates of races in the Draft Clas­sic Di­ary 2012 and the mem­bers of the rac­ing fra­ter­ni­ty will be ad­vised, as soon as those dates have been fi­nalised.

The BLB pro­pos­es to make this race a per­ma­nent fea­ture of the clas­sic di­ary.
