West Indies under-19 and Fatima College all rounder Akeal Hosein was among the top winners in the Secondary School North Zone cricket awards on Friday at City Hall, Port-of-Spain.Hosein, a former student of Fatima College, was named cricketer of the year and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He achieved awards for figures off (5/46 and 7/37), was among the century scorers 112 and 113, and was among the elite super seven cricketers of the year.
Fatima College, champions of the under-14 and under-16 divisions, claimed awards for under-14 team of the year, under-13 incredibles (Anand Lochan) and cricketer of the season in the under-14 category.Savion Lara of Fatima was also awarded as one of the cricketers of the season in the championship and for representing North and the national team. Kelly Rosalis was among the awardees for under-16 cricketers of the year along with Christian Kissoon in the under-14 division.
Awards were also distributed to the future cricketers for their academic successes where CIC's David Lee and Fatima's Luke Samerson were awarded.Also receiving were Philton William (Most Valuable Player), Camillio Carimbocas (Emerging Player of the Year), Cavan Byrne (Most Promising Player of the Year).Executive member of the T&T cricket board Patrick Rampersad expressed his appreciation to the sponsors teachers, coaches and principals.
