Slum­ber has been moved to USA and is set to con­test the grade one, $250,000 Hol­ly­wood Der­by on Sun­day, his last race for Lam­bourn train­er Charles Hills!Own­er Khaled Ab­dul­la has trans­ferred Slum­ber over­seas in an­tic­i­pa­tion of more op­por­tu­ni­ties for the Cacique colt, all-the-way win­ner of the list­ed 'James Sey­mour' at New­mar­ket last month, un­der Michael Hills.

Un­for­tu­nate­ly for the 'el­der' twin-broth­er, Amer­i­can-based jock­ey Jer­ry Gomez will be aboard around Hol­ly­wood Park. Af­ter the race, Slum­ber will be trans­port­ed to the yard of top train­er, Bill Mott.Three-year-old Slum­ber, some­what un­lucky at Roy­al As­cot, has earned £60,000 prize-mon­ey over here. It would have been con­sid­er­ably more in USA and doubt­less, that is what in­flu­enced the de­ci­sion of Mr Ab­dul­la to aim for the stars; af­ter all he'll still have Frankel.

Slum­ber isn't the on­ly Hills' run­ner at this meet­ing. New' re­cruit, Is­land Par­adise con­tests the grade three Miesque Stakes to­mor­row (Fri­day).Is­land Par­adise was trained by now-re­tired Pe­ter Winkworth to land a Kemp­ton all-weath­er maid­en back in Sep­tem­ber, in own­er­ship of Ru­pert Williams who trav­els with Charles to­day.

Con­sid­er­able im­prove­ment is need­ed, but own­er­ship should be all about fun and of course, you nev­er know with a light­ly-raced, pro­gres­sive fil­ly.It should be an en­light­en­ing ex­pe­ri­ence for Hills, al­ready look­ing for­ward to the 2012 turf-flat sea­son, with a near-full Far­ring­don yard. Bar­ry and Pen­ny Hills must be proud.

In the mean­time, an ob­vi­ous 'Se­lec­tion' for the nine-run­ner Maid­en Stakes over six fur­longs of Kemp­ton poly­track tonight, based on of­fi­cial rat­ings and my time-hand­i­cap, which was in good form with an­oth­er tre­ble yes­ter­day.Al­though like­ly to be short-priced, de­spite be­ing a 'non-win­ner' af­ter four out­ings, Roy­al Se­lec­tion looks a strong 'yan­kee' an­chor' against a clutch of mod­er­ates, with no ex­cep­tion.

Just over three weeks back this Choisor fil­ly was beat­en just a length by Mad Gin­ger Al­ice over a mile of this cir­cuit and backed to favouritism; ac­cord­ing to my TH com­pi­la­tion Roy­al Se­lec­tion failed to stay and wise­ly they have ac­cept­ed ob­vi­ous fact.

Roy­al Se­lec­tion should re­trieve loss­es and go one bet­ter un­der per­se­ver­ance of reg­u­lar jock­ey Tom McLaugh­lin, who has vast ex­pe­ri­ence of all-weath­er tracks; so im­por­tant.Half an hour on, Jwala has Gali­cian to beat in the Maid­en stakes over six fur­longs, and vi­ca ver­sa; dif­fi­cult to en­vis­age any oth­er be­ing in­volved un­less Richard Han­non-trained new­com­er, Boudoir, is 'spe­cial!'

Pref­er­ence is for Jwala, mar­gin­al­ly 'best-in' and much fresh­er than Gali­cian, a Mark John­ston-trained fil­ly which en­dured a gru­elling ex­pe­ri­ence over sev­en fur­longs of this track, on­ly eight days ago.It's the 'Hen­nessy' on Sat­ur­day at New­bury. What a week­end of rac­ing we have, even though it's to­tal­ly over­whelm­ing for se­ri­ous pun­ters.
