The West In­dies Crick­et Board (WICB) yes­ter­day con­firmed a Sun­day Guardian re­port that the pre­lim­i­nary round of the re­gion­al T20 tour­na­ment will be shift­ed from the Queen's Park Oval, Trinidad to Sir Vi­vian Richards Crick­et Grounds, An­tigua.The move re­sult­ed be­cause of high rental fees for the Oval and the un­avail­abil­i­ty of the venue on Jan­u­ary 14, one of the play­ing days.

The Oval man­age­ment was re­port­ed to be ask­ing for US$100,000 for the six days of crick­et but the St John's venue is much cheap­er since it is con­trolled by the An­tigua and Bar­bu­da gov­ern­ment.As a re­sult, changes have been made to the fix­tures with match­es on Jan­u­ary 9, 11 and 19 switched. Three over­seas teams-Nether­lands, Cana­da and Sus­sex-will com­pete against sev­en Caribbean teams with the high­est placed Caribbean team go­ing on to rep­re­sent the re­gion in the Nokia Cham­pi­ons League.
