Na­tion­al for­ward Stephen "Lighter" Lewis in­spired De­fence Force to a sec­ond con­sec­u­tive win in the Mack­e­son Su­per 10 Bas­ket­ball League (SBL), this time over Diego Mar­tin All Stars in the men's di­vi­sion, at the Jean Pierre Com­plex, Mu­cu­rapo, on Sun­day night.He led the scor­ers for ei­ther team with 23 points, while tak­ing five re­bounds and two steals.Team-mate and point-guard Der­rick Box­ill con­tributed with 13 points, sev­en points and four steals, while cen­tre Kevin Bacguain chipped in with ten points and four re­bounds.The four-time cham­pi­ons were com­mand­ing through­out the en­tire en­counter, tak­ing leads at 16–9 and 36–17 at the end of the first quar­ter and at half time, re­spec­tive­ly.Diego Mar­tin suc­cumbed to their sec­ond loss of the cam­paign, main­tain­ing a 50 per cent record. The club was led by point-guard and Shorn Ed­wards and for­ward Gersh­win Dun­can, both of whom net­ted 12 points. Dun­can al­so grabbed three re­bounds in his ef­forts.

Po­lice records his­toric win over De­fence Force

Rhon­da John-Davis was in­stru­men­tal in her de­but for Po­lice in the team's 81–73 win over De­fence Force in the bat­tle of the pro­tec­tive ser­vices in the women's di­vi­sion on Sun­day evening.John-Davis, a for­mer De­fence Force for­ward trad­ed the #22 blue and green out­fit for the #13 white and blue Po­lice kit just over a year ago, and she de­liv­ered in her first big com­pet­i­tive match.The re­cip­i­ent of na­tion­al and zon­al cham­pi­onship medals dur­ing her tenure at De­fence Force, was one of the best play­ers on the court drop­ping 29 points, help­ing Po­lice to their first ever win in the SBL women's bas­ket­ball di­vi­sion over the same op­po­nents.De­fence Force led the first quar­ter 19–18, but Po­lice man­aged to over­turn the re­sult to lead 42–39 at the half and nev­er looked back.The win­ning team got sup­port from the tal­ent­ed for­ward Kielle Con­nel­ly, while for­mer na­tion­al for­ward Tres­sia Brath­waite poured 19 points and grabbed eight re­bounds.

De­spite the loss, Ali­cia Liv­er­pool had an ex­cep­tion­al match lead­ing all scor­ers with a 31 point high, while snatch­ing 14 re­bounds for the dou­ble-dou­ble.She led all scor­ers on the day with an out­stand­ing 31 point tal­ly, while snatch­ing 14 re­bounds, for the dou­ble-dou­ble per­for­mance.For­ward Crys­tal George net­ted 18 and eight re­bounds and point-guard Jody Sprott drilled four three-point­ers to fin­ish with 12 points and five re­bounds.Ac­tion in the women's di­vi­sion con­tin­ues tonight when Ch­agua­nas Li­ons takes on Diego Mar­tin All Stars from 7 pm.The Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT) and Po­lice will com­pete in the men's di­vi­sion at 8.30 pm.
