Anthony Parris registered a hat-trick as KC Perseverance United outclassed Caroni Samba in their top-of-table Central Football Association Premier Division "Big-Six" competition at Frederick Settlement Ground, Caroni, on Monday night.Going into the match, Caroni, winners' of its four previous matches needed only a point to claim the title and it got the perfect start when striker Teba Mc Knight hammered home his seventh goal in three matches for a 1-0 lead after 31 minutes.
But within a minute Parris, like Mc Knight a former Naparima College student drew Perseverance United level for a 1-1 half-time score.Five minutes after the re-start former Soca Warriors defender, Nigel "Danny" Daniel restored Caroni's slim lead.However, Parris got his team level again in the 73rd minute before Andy Garcia banged in the go-ahead item two minutes late for a 3-2 cushion.Parris then sealed victory at 4-2 with his third of the match two minutes later which pushed its points tally to nine from four matches, three behind Caroni.
Last night in the final round of matches, Perseverance United had a chance to pip Caroni for the crown, but needed to defeat Harlem Strikers by 13 clear goals.In Monday's other match, Perseverance Ball Runners whipped St Mary's United 3-1 led by a double from Akeem Wilkinson. Meanwhile, Strikers and KC Perseverance United will meet in the CFA FA Final tomorrow (Saturday) from 6pm at Woodford Lodge Ground, Chaguanas while on Monday, Strikers and Caroni face off in the Sanitank League Cup final at the same venue and time.
