For­ward Kern George again led the scor­ing with 26 points for the Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT) in the Mack­e­son Su­per 10 Bas­ket­ball Legaue (SBL) help­ing his team to a 69-59 win over Po­lice at the Jean Pierre Com­plex, Mu­cu­rapo, on Tues­day night.De­spite scor­ing an out­stand­ing 17 points of his to­tal in the first quar­ter, Po­lice held a 21-19, at the end of the open­ing pe­ri­od.

How­ev­er, UTT got right back in­to the match in the sec­ond pe­ri­od, outscor­ing Po­lice 25-15 to take a 44-36 lead.The Po­lice­men clad in Blue and White were un­able to re­cov­er, and even­tu­al­ly lost out on the wide ten­point mar­gin. UTT's sec­ond win in four match­es, dropped Po­lice to its sec­ond loss in as many match­es since its open­ing day 100-35 de­feat to San­do Petro Jazz on Sat­ur­day.

Sup­port­ing George were for­wards Jef­frey Har­ris and Kevon Nor­eiga who shot 17 and 13 points, re­spec­tive­ly.Randy Greenidge was Po­lice's most dan­ger­ous play­er. He scored 17 points, while Phillip Alexan­der added 10. \

Diego Mar­tin gets first win women's did­vi­sion

Diego Mar­tin All Stars record­ed their first win in the women's di­vi­sion on Tues­day, tam­ing Ch­agua­nas Li­ons 57-39 in the first match on the night.Fol­low­ing loss­es to a crafty BLINK Bri­an Chase Acad­e­my and de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Courts Hori­zon, Diego Mar­tin bounced back to eas­i­ly hold off their op­po­nents.Diego nar­row­ly led 13-10 in the first pe­ri­od but out­played the Li­ons to al­most dou­ble the lead­ing mar­gin at 30-16.

The Cen­tral club outscored the win­ners in the third pe­ri­od but still trailed by eight points at 39-31. Diego Mar­tin, how­ev­er, saved the best for last. Led by for­ward Ani­ka Not­ting­ham, who top scored for her team in the third suc­ces­sive match, Diego Mar­tin took 18 points to Li­ons' eight, to win by a com­fort­able 18 point mar­gin.

Not­ting­ham, a promis­ing young play­er, scored 17 points, fol­lowed by Saman­tha Wal­lace who got her first dou­ble-dou­ble, scor­ing 11 points and tak­ing 12 re­bounds. Shanel­la Pierre was the on­ly re­al threat for the Li­ons. She scored 11 points and took sev­en re­bounds. Diego Mar­tin will be back in ac­tion tonight, but in the Girls 18-and Un­der out­fit.

They will take on Yorke Bas­ket­ball Club at 6.30 pm, fol­lowed by a keen men's match-up be­tween De­fence Force and Cale­do­nia Clip­pers.
