Universal Flippers will be fancied to secure the last remaining semifinal spot in the Prizgar Lands & Erica Street Action Committee Seven-a-Side Big-Eight Football competition when it tackles Seamers today.
The match-up between the St James-based Flippers, winner of its six-team round robin Group A series with 13 points and Seamers, fourth in Group B, with seven points takes place at the Erica Street Recreation Ground from 6pm.
At Stake for the winner is a semifinal meeting with Full Hundred on Saturday from 7.15pm. In Saturday's first semifinal, Back Road Youths plays Gifted Blacks from 6pm. Full Hundred, the lone team to win all its matches to date topped Group B with maximum 15 points and crushed Woodbrook United 5-0 in its quarterfinal. Back Road Youths edged Trou Macaque 1-0 in sudden-death extra-time while Gifted Blacks powered past Kool Krew 7-1.
The third place match and final will both take place on Saturday February 4 from 6pm where the winner will received $4,000, second $2,000 and third, $1,000. Major sponsors of the competition hosted by the Prizgar Lands/Erica Street Action Committee are the Ministry of Sports and Restoring Unity Company.
