Prisons’ 65-point (69-4) win over T&T Hospitality and Tourism Institute (TTHTI) may be rated as one of the largest margins of victory in any division of the Courts All Sectors Netball League. The slaughter played out on Tuesday night in the opening match of two Altenative Division encounters at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua. Saying La Vaughn O’Neil was on fire may be an understatement. She notched 50 goals from 82 attempts to lead all scorer’s on the night. Helping her in the circle were Ayanna Aaron and Rhonita Williams. Aaron converted 11 off 18 and Williams netted eight from nine.

The defensive effort by the Prisons team could not go unnoticed as it had its opponent goalless in the first quarter while it scored 16. In the second period, only a one goal was scored by TTHTI, to trail 28-1 at the half. The third and fourth sessions didn’t get much better as TTHTI added three goals compared to Prisons’ 41.
The second match was far more exciting with Police coming away win a one-goal (45-44) win over the University of Southern Caribbean (USC). For the second straight match, the police officers were piloted by goal-shooter Giselle Norton-Richards, who netted 38 from 43.

Police commanded the first half, holding a 14-9 in the opening period then 23-21 at the halfway mark. USC which had its goal-attack Afiya Alexis match Norton-Richards at the other end of the court with 39 off 58 recovered in the third and overtook Police, 35-32. But Police fought back and regained the lead after outscoring USC, 13-9, in the fourth and final quarter, to complete the narrow margin of victory.
