The John O'Brien-trained, Amer­i­can bred three-year-old colt, Ig­ni­tion Coil showed that he has im­proved tremen­dous­ly over the past month by turn­ing the ta­ble on Gab­by's Won­der­boy, in yes­ter­day's fea­ture event over 1,350 me­tres at San­ta Rosa Park, Ari­ma. Al­ways in front, Bri­an Boodram­s­ing sent the SIR owned colt for home 500 me­tres from the fin­ish and the son of Sir Shack­le­ton/Cir­cu­lar Rea­son­ing ran out a ready win­ner by 4 1/2 lengths. The De­r­ick Mosca trained Gab­by's Won­der­boy was again the brides­maid, mak­ing it three sec­ond placed fin­ish­es in his last four starts, as rac­ing on the fourth day of the Ari­ma Race Club (ARC) rac­ing sea­son con­tin­ued. Boodram­s­ing rode a con­fi­dent race on the favourite Ig­ni­tion Coil. He had Ig­ni­tion Coil at the head of af­fairs ear­ly and nev­er re­lin­quished the lead.

How­ev­er, when the Shiv­am Ma­haraj-owned Gab­by's Won­der Boy came to chal­lenge the colt at the cor­ner, the crowd at San­ta Rosa Park, shout­ed their ap­proval but Ig­ni­tion Coil had oth­er ideas. Ig­ni­tion Coil kept up the gal­lop and found an­oth­er gear to keep Gab­by's Won­der­Boy at bay. Big Boy Jor­dan fin­ished third with Cur­few Break­er fourth. Train­ing ho­n­ours for the day went to cham­pi­on train­er O'Brien, who sad­dled four win­ners. Rid­ing ho­n­our went to Boodram­s­ing, who rode four win­ners-Ig­ni­tion Coil, Fleet Ad­mi­ral, Pis­ton and Rings and Law­break­er. Rac­ing con­tin­ues next week.
