After two rounds of the 2012 Carib Sunday League it is already pointing to a three-way battle for top honours, as defending champions Queen's Park, PowerGen and T&TEC have all recorded convincing victories. Queen's Park lead Group A with two wins from their two matches. On Saturday, they manhandled First Citizens Clarke Road, getting the better of them by 167 runs, while on Sunday they whipped newcomers Esmeralda Sports Club by six wickets. Another team who will be worth watching this year is PowerGen Sports Club, as they romped to six points from two matches. They got convincing wins over Wanderers and Central Sports respectively. In third place is SIS Central Sports who won one and lost one on the weekend. President Richard Ramkissoon has employed the services of former Guyanese Test player Mahendra Nagamootoo and a lot is expected from him, as they look to push for a knockout place.
In Group B the star-studded T&TEC team on the back of good batting performances from national captain Denesh Ramdin (107no and 31no) and Azrudeen Mohammed 66 and 65) recorded two impressive wins. What has left everyone in shock is the fact that the big-spending Moosai Sports are lodged at the bottom of the standings. In the off-season, they were able to woo Dave Mohammed, Aneil Kanhai and Navin Stewart to strengthen their team. However, they were beaten in their first two matches and the second game would have been very pleasurable for Merryboys boss Patrick Rampersad, as he got a victory over a team that has taken away two of his main players over the last two seasons. Kanhai who served Merryboys well in the past joined opener Mario Belcon who made the trip East last season.
