Kickingthelilly is strongly-fancied to go one better and retrieve considerable losses in the Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs of Southwell fibresand today. Will Rae Guest's charge be similarly effective on the 'deep stuff?' That's all you are betting against because Kickingthelilly comes out way superior, on my time-handicap, which also leaves us in no doubt there are three others worth punting on this seven-race programme, a saviour for betting shops! That's because Towcester has been abandoned due to frost and jumping enthusiasts will be fervently hoping Wincanton survives. It's cold in the United Kingdom but absolutely glorious for those who relish unique, nature-type photography. Mares in form at this time of year can be devastating, an embarrassment for handicappers and hopefully, Suddenly Susan proves a classic example in the seven-runner 'aged' handicap over six furlongs under promising apprentice, Raul de Silva.
Suddenly Susan is undoubtedly, best on this surface and though Ace Of Spies and Hayley Turner can't be ruled out, I'm expecting the 5lbs allowance of de Silva to weigh heavily against rivals in the closing stages. Leonna Mayor claims the full 7lbs allowance (for now!) and Pipers Piping should be able to take advantage in the six-runner 'aged' handicap over a mile. Arkaim is likely to set the race up with front-running tactics and indeed, is game and genuine but Pipers Piping is strongly-fancied and expected to recoup recent losses under Leonna, who is well balanced and has every chance of making a career of jockeyship. She's prepared to work hard and deserves to make a fist of it. Roedean attempts a quick-fire hat-trick in the six-runner Selling Stakes and is impossible to oppose. We've managed to get this Oratorio filly absolutely right and recent exertions shouldn't be a problem. In fact she's thriving.
