Defending champions Queen's Park Cricket Club will be hunting another win today, when the third round of the Sunday League series is played today across the country. Unbeaten Queen's Park will come up against winless Wanderers at Gilbert Park in Couva. However, QPCC will not have it easy, as they are missing several top players, who are on national duty. They will have to battle without Keiron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Darren Bravo, fast bowler Shannon Gabriel and champion spinner Sunil Narine. They however, have in their ranks the experienced Runako Morton, skipper Justin Guillen, Daron Cruickshank, Marlon Barclay and off-spinner Amit Jaggernauth. In other Group A matches, PowerGen one of the major contenders for the title this season, will come up against newly promoted Esmeralda Sports Club at Cunupia. Esmeralda who toppled T&TEC in the UWI T20 tournament on Thursday night, have onboard former West Indies pacer Mervyn Dillon and former national middle order batsmen Shazam Babwah.
PowerGen have won both games and manager Chaitram Ramjitsingh was quick to point out that the team is better balanced this season. "Although we have lost players, I think we have a better balanced team for the fight this year. "We are going to make a major challenge for top honours and I am delighted that the players have started the campaign well. "We are coming up against Esmeralda and although they are new kids on the block, we are not going to under-estimate them." In Group B, the star-studded T&TEC will be missing their national players when they come up against Merryboys in Couva. Merryboys bounced back well in defeating Moosai Sports in their second game, after losing the opener to Alescon Comets.
