Titans Swim Club emerged the champion club at the third annual Sea Hawks New Year Splash at the Centre of Excellence Swimming Pool, Macoya on Sunday. Titans amassed 1,554 points, ahead of runners up Blue Dolphins (863 points), and joint third place winners Marlins’ and Torpedoes (548 points). Overall, Titans copped 29 age-group trophies, inclusive of seven of the 12 first place trophies on offer. The win for Titans was its first victory as a swim club since its formation in November 2011, via the merger of the competitive arms of Tsunami of San Fernando and Centre of Excellence Sea Hawks Swim Club of Macoya. Titans prevailed in the meet which saw 188 athletes from 14 clubs competing. This meet is the only one in the country that give athletes the opportunity to choose from the 17 events in the sport in one day. Swimmers chose five of these events, with the best four of the five being used to determine an athlete's score via the FINA point system. This was the first year meet records were introduced and 15 new meet records were achieved on the 31-event card.

Aquatics duo of Abraham and Joshua Mc Leod did the most damage to the record books, totalling seven new records for the Gasparillo based club. Joshua, the older of the two established new marks in the 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle, which belonged to Caryle Blondell and in the 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle which was owned by Cadell Lyons. Mc Leod (A) smashed the 50m, 100m and 200m marks which were all owned by Napoleon Howell. Kristin Julien of Titans accounted for two meet records erasing the 50m butterfly mark of Brittany Stewart, and her own 100m backstroke record. New records were also achieved by Julian Kaufmann of Blue Dolphins, Josiah Morales of Eagles, Jivan Chee Foon and Jonathan Gillette of Marlins, Marie Marcano of Titans, and the Titans 12 & Under Mixed Medley relay team.

Special trophies were awarded to the best FINA Point swim in each age group. The FINA point scoring allows comparisons of results among different events, pegged against the world record which has a score of 1,000. The FINA point scoring assigns point values to swimming performances, with the higher the point the better the swim. Titans achieved four FINA point awards via Amira Pilgrim, Kristin Julien, Jonathan Ramkissoon and Simone Maundy. Marlins also earned four awards, via Victoria Gillette, her cousin Luke Gillette, Christian Marsden and David Wiltshire. Atlantis picked up three awards through Joshua Mc Leod, his youngest brother Michael and Jada Chai. Jewel Mulrain won one FINA Point award for Torpedoes.
