T&TFF FA Trophy 2012

Reigning Digicel T&T Pro League champions, Defence Force will be keen for a better performance when they face Eastern Counties Football Union club, Mafeking United in a re-schedule T&T Football Federation FA Trophy round-of-32 match today. The encounter between Defence Force, which just sneaked past Secondary Schools Football League champions, St Anthony’s College 3-2 in a round-one qualified a week ago, and Mafeking takes place at the Mafeking Recreation Ground from 3.30 pm after being brought forward by 24 hours. Today’s match for the Ross Russell-coached “Teteron Boys” will come less than 24 hours after another Pro League match, as they were expected to meet Adam’s Construction Limited San Juan Jabloteh in a league match last night at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar.

Last week, Defence Force also played back-to-back, first in a 1-1 draw with T&TEC then the win over St Anthony’s. Seven other matches are on schedule for today with another four tomorrow. Already through to the last 16 is Central Football Association FA Trophy third placed finisher, Caroni Samba after Tobago Football Association’s, Stokely Vale forfeited due to financial reasons. Reigning FA Trophy holder and three-time winner, Adam’s Construction Limited San Juan Jabloteh kicks off its defence against El Dorado East Secondary, nick-named the “Blue Thunder” tomorrow at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Malabar from 5 pm. Last year, Jabloteh registered its third lien on the trophy via 1-0 win over fellow Digicel T&T Pro League club, DirecTV North East Stars with Kennedy Hinkson the scorer to land the $80,000 winner’s prize.
