Ash­lee Smith picked up two sil­ver medals at the Jeff Davis Bank Mc Neese 11 Meet host­ed by her school, Mc Neese Uni­ver­si­ty, on Fri­day in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Smith was sec­ond in the women's weight throw and shot put events. In the weight throw, the 2010 World Ju­nior Cham­pi­onships cam­paign­er threw the im­ple­ment out to 17.97 me­tres but was beat­en for the top spot by school­mate La Shante­na Rounds (18.42). In the shot put fi­nals, the Me­chan­i­cal En­gi­neer­ing stu­dent was again beat­en by her team­mate for the gold. Smith's best throw was at 13.86m with Rounds 14.04m. An­nie Alexan­der and Kry­on Blaise grabbed run­ner-up spots on the first day of ac­tion at the NB Col­le­giate In­vi­ta­tion­al in Ar­mory, New York on Fri­day.

Alexan­der fin­ished sec­ond in the women's shot put cham­pi­onship event with a throw of 17.03m. The Ten­nessee stu­dent got her best throw in the fifth round. The 2006 CAC dou­ble ju­nior cham­pi­on was beat­en to the top spot by Sk­yar White (Bay­lor), 17.32m. Blaise took sil­ver in the men's long jump with a 7.73m leap. The LSU stu­dent was edged in­to sec­ond by his team­mate Damar Forbes who won with 7.94m. Wayne Davis II just missed a medal in the men's 60m hur­dles. The Texas A&M ath­lete was fourth in 7.74. In the pre­lim­i­nar­ies Davis was fifth fastest with 7.80. LSU's Ade Al­leyne-Forte took fifth spot in the men's 500m cham­pi­onships race in 1:02:60 with Em­manuel May­ers (Mis­sis­sip­pi) in sixth (1:03:26).
