Captain Justin Guillen topscored with 63 off 96 balls while medium pacer Daron Cruickshank took four for 37 as defending champions Queen’s Park Cricket Club whipped SIS Central Sports by 78 runs in the fourth round of the T&T Cricket Board’s Sunday League Premiership 50 Over Competition at the Queen’s Park Oval, St Clair yesterday. It was the Parkites’ fourth win in as many matches.

Batting first, the hosts racked up 261 for six in 50 overs with Guillen, Petrock Nicholas (47 off 53 balls), Marlon Barclay (45 off 65) and Runako Morton (35 off 31) each making useful contributions.  Mahendra Nagamootoo was the pick of the Central Sports bowlers with figures of 10-0-41-2 while Dane Telucksingh (2-51) and Alex Antoine (2-61) also entered the wickets column. Despite a dashing 82 off 89 balls from Antoine, Central Sports were bowled out for 183 in the 42nd over as Cruickshank, fellow medium pacer Uthman Mohammed (2-22) and offspinner Amit Jaggernauth (2-32) sealed the result for Queen’s Park.

Across the road at St Mary’s Ground, offspinner Javed Ramdhanie and medium pacer Kervon Christmas each snared four victims to give Ceramic Merryboys a 155-run win over Clico Preysal. Batting first, Merryboys reached 210 for nine in 45 overs thanks to knocks from Aaron Aldred (61) and Alcindo Holder (37). Offspinner Andy Gobin was Clico’s top bowler, taking three for 33. In reply, the visitors crumbled for 55 in 25.3 overs with Ramdhanie (9-5-8-4) and Christmas (8-0-24-4) wreaking havoc over the opposition batsmen.
