Simon, Cudjoe guide Technocrats to victory

Bowler Desiree Simon and batswoman Whitney Cudjoe stepped up their game in the absence of star player allrounder Stacy Ann King and led Technocrats to a huge nine-wicket win against Maaad Rangers. This was in their opening match in the Premiership Division of the T&T Women’s Cricket Association (TTWCA) at Squadron ground in Arouca on Sunday. Simon claimed six wickets for 16 runs, to have Rangers which is without its leading bowler spinner Anisa Mohammed, all out for 126 from 35.5 overs. Both King and Mohammed are away on duties with West Indies women team. Cudjoe led Technocrats reply with an unbeaten half century (52) as the defending champion eased to 127 only losing one wicket. Over at Arima Enclosure, Kirbyina Alexander’s half-century (60) helped Moosai Ladies defeat Cricket Lovers by 121 runs. Her performance earned her the “Player of the Round” award.

 
Moosai batted first and made 220/6 in 38 overs, also getting worthy contributions from Shari John (44), Jerveena Pollocksingh (33) and Leanne Kirby, who ended not out on  21. Pauline Dufeal and Sarah Charles bowled well for Cricket Lovers picking up two wickets each for 34 and 38 runs, respectively. It was their batsmen that crumbled under the pressure, getting bowled out for 99 in 32 overs. Kamara Ragoobar came away with 4-15 in that innings. In the Championship Division, Tenisha Cudjoe emerged the top player of the round, scoring an unbeaten 74  in helping Hibiscus Ladies to a 212-run victory over North Western Seagulls. She was also flawless in her bowling with two wickets for no runs to bowl out Seagulls for a meagre six runs.

Moosai Ladies 220/6 (38 overs) (Kirbyina Alexander 60, Shari John 44, Jerveena Pollocksingh 33, Leanne Kirby 21 no; Pauline Dufeal 2-34, Sarah Charles 2-38) vs Cricket Lovers 99 all overs (32 overs) (Mary Mungal 17, Colline Edwards 18; Kamara Ragoobar 4-15). Moosai won by 121 runs.

Achievers Women won by three wickets.
 
Arima Secondary
Hibiscus Ladies 218 without loss (17 overs) (Tenisha Cudjoe 74 no, Shanice Pascall 50 no) vs NW Seagulls 6 all out (5 overs) (Tenisha Cudjoe 2-0, Leah Collette 3-2). Hibiscus Ladies won by 212 runs.
