Goal-shoot­er Saman­tha Wal­lace ruled the court on Sat­ur­day evening as she led the Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT) to a 44-39 win over Po­lice in the Courts All Sec­tors Net­ball League at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na in Tacarigua. The young­ster pro­duced a match-high 34 goals from 40 at­tempts in her team's open­ing match in round two of the Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion. UTT leads the ta­ble with an un­beat­en record af­ter four match­es. It was a dis­ap­point­ing fin­ish for the po­lice of­fi­cers, who con­trolled the first quar­ter 11-9, main­tain­ing that three-goal (22-19) lead at the half. UTT fought back in the third pe­ri­od, outscor­ing Po­lice 12-10, to trail on­ly by one (32-31). UTT kept up their in­ten­si­ty in­to the fourth and fi­nal ses­sion through Wal­lace and her goal-at­tack na­tion­al cap­tain Janelle Bark­er. She con­nect­ed 10 off 15 as the Uni­ver­si­ty team again scored 12 goals in the quar­ter com­pared to Po­lice's eight which was good enough to earn them the five-goal vic­to­ry. Gushi­er Grant (16/23) and Kali­fa Mc­Collin (23/40) op­er­at­ed in the cir­cle for the Po­lice unit which suf­fered its sec­ond loss of the sea­son. The first de­feat was al­so against UTT, 48-35, in round one. In the di­vi­sion's oth­er match, Fire eas­i­ly got by Bermudez, 67-21 with Anas­ta­sia Wil­son lead­ing the way with 59 from 67 tries.
