Glenora Sports Club qualified for the semifinals of the North Zone 40 over competition with a thrilling victory over arch rivals Invincible on Saturday at the Queen's Park Savannah. Glenora won the toss and took first strike and were bundled out for a measly 81 in 22 overs. Stefon Bissoon top scored with 14 not out, Wesley Balroop also made 14. Veteran medium pace bowler Adrian Don Mora had the best figures for Invincible with 3 for 18. Glenora however fought back and eventually bowled out their opponents for 79, winning by two runs. National under 13 player Emilo Gopaul was the best Glenora bowler with 4/17 from 5 overs while Brandon Boodram got 3/18 from 7 overs. Glenora however lost their final group stage game on Sunday to Sweet Revenge.
Batting first Glenora made 119/9 off their 40 overs with Andy Alexander making a stroke filled 48. Luke Latiff took 3/25. Sweet Revenge then made light work of the total reaching 120/4 off 27 overs. Riad Ally scored an unbeaten 51 while Sean DeSouza slammed 41. Andy Alexander returned with the ball taking 3/19 in his 8 overs. In other matches in the group Invincible bounced back from their loss on Saturday to defeat Paragon on Sunday by a whopping 108 runs. Paragon won the toss and inserted Invincible. Anthony Telfer top scored with 41 out of a total of 175/6, paragon were then bowled out for 67 with Anthony Balbosa scoring 33. Larry Kowlessar was the best bowler for Invincible with a haul of 4/7 from 3.5 overs and Brian Noel got 3/22 off 5 overs. Harvard also made light work of Paragon on Saturday. Harvard made 125/9 in their 40 overs. Paragon were never up to the task and were bowled out for 70.
