Chaguanas Mayor Gopaul Boodhan is hoping that some level of mediation would take place to prevent any further damage to the cricket pitch at the Pierre Road Recreation Ground. Boodhan said the cricket pitch was destroyed by a motor vehicle that ran over the pitch several times. He said the ground used to play first class cricket and the Alescon Comets based at Pierre Road. Boodhan said he was almost driven to tears when he saw the condition of the pitch. He said the damage was believed to have been done sometime on Tuesday night and can cost as much as $7000 to repair.

Boodhan said he also understood that some persons were disgruntled that they could not use the jogging track along the edges of the pitch and the facility had restricted use because of cricketing activities. Boodhan said if there was any truth to what he heard he planned to meet with the community and cricketers to ensure that some system was worked out to ensure that all parties enjoyed the benefit of the recreation ground.
