World top 100 ranked shooter, George Vire, will be among the competitors who will be vying for top honours as the National Indoor Archery Championships (NIAC) shoots off on Sunday at 8.30 am at the Central Regional Indoor Sporting Arena. Some 52 archers from the four archery clubs across T&T have registered to compete in the senior, junior, cadet and cub categories in the Compound Bow and Recurve Bow events. Also competing are Rakesh Sookhoo and Hasmath Ali who, along with Vire, comprised T&T's top Compound archers who won gold at the Copa de Costa Rica World Ranking Tournament last year.
The competition results will be submitted towards a regional tournament, the Multi-Sites Indoor Championships of the Americas. This will allow T&T's archers to compete with archers from 35 different countries in the Americas without having to leave the country. The tournament commences with an opening ceremony at 8.30 am followed by the youth group shoot off at 9 am and the seniors at 11am. The medal rounds will begin at 2.30 pm and the day is expected to come to a close at 5pm.
