World top 100 ranked shoot­er, George Vire, will be among the com­peti­tors who will be vy­ing for top ho­n­ours as the Na­tion­al In­door Archery Cham­pi­onships (NI­AC) shoots off on Sun­day at 8.30 am at the Cen­tral Re­gion­al In­door Sport­ing Are­na. Some 52 archers from the four archery clubs across T&T have reg­is­tered to com­pete in the se­nior, ju­nior, cadet and cub cat­e­gories in the Com­pound Bow and Re­curve Bow events. Al­so com­pet­ing are Rakesh Sookhoo and Has­math Ali who, along with Vire, com­prised T&T's top Com­pound archers who won gold at the Co­pa de Cos­ta Ri­ca World Rank­ing Tour­na­ment last year.

The com­pe­ti­tion re­sults will be sub­mit­ted to­wards a re­gion­al tour­na­ment, the Mul­ti-Sites In­door Cham­pi­onships of the Amer­i­c­as. This will al­low T&T's archers to com­pete with archers from 35 dif­fer­ent coun­tries in the Amer­i­c­as with­out hav­ing to leave the coun­try. The tour­na­ment com­mences with an open­ing cer­e­mo­ny at 8.30 am fol­lowed by the youth group shoot off at 9 am and the se­niors at 11am. The medal rounds will be­gin at 2.30 pm and the day is ex­pect­ed to come to a close at 5pm.
