Big upset in Royal Colours

The Chester Roberts trained filly, Honour The Lady scored a massive upset 110–1, in the feature Royal Colours Classic over 1,300 metres on the main track. The DLRKR Stables owned filly was the only horse in the eleven horse field which was showing at 99/1. She belied her odds and won comfortably, by one length from the 3–1 chance, It Got To Be Me with Nettoyer third and Unquestionable fourth. Honour The Lady which was unplaced in both her previous starts, turned the form-book upset down when she made all the running and withstood the late challenge of the Harold Chadee trained, It Got To Be Me in the final 100 metres. It Got To Be Me was given a tender and patient ride by Prayven Badrie, as he held the horse up in midfield before coming to unleash his challenge in the final 300 metres. Though staying on well, the Chadee in-mate could not reel in Honour The Lady.

 

The Hi-5 in this event was not won and a carry-over of $60,059 will have to be won on another day. No punter was able to select the combination of Honor The Lady, It Got To Be Me, Nettoyer, Unquestionable and Big Thing in the $125,00 purse affair. The winner recorded the time of 1:19.3 for the trip which was slower than that of Perfection Plus in the third event. Perfection Plus recorded the time of 1:18.4 and looks to be improving at a rate of knots for owner Wendell Kangaloo. Gabby's Wonderboy which has been a bridesmaid on three occasions. got it right yesterday, when he won the opener convincingly, by 4 1/4 lengths for jockey Nela Mohammed. The Derick Mosca trained horse ran away from Curfew Breaker to win easily. Another surprise winner was Cover You Donkey in the fourth event for trainer Michael Carew, Jnr who landed two winners on the day’s card. Cover You Donkey won at odds of 9/1 for Sheldon Rodrigo who steered Perfection Plus to victory in race three. Riding honours for the day fell to Sheldon Rodrigo who rode three winners. Training honours for the day were shared between Derick Mosca and Harold Chadee. They had saddled two winners each. Racing continues next Friday at Santa Rosa Park, when the Friday evening Carnival Lime will be held.
