A tidy all-round showing from Barisal Burners helped them to a 22-run win against Duronto Rajshahi. This was Barisal's second win in the Bangladesh Premier League as many days, while Rajshahi slipped to a second successive defeat.
Choosing to bat, Barisal were propped up by their opening pair of Chris Gayle and Ahmed Shehzad. They put on 82 in 8.1 overs, before Gayle fell. Shehzad, however, hung around till the 14th over, knocking around four fours and six sixes in a 40-ball 67. The other two batsmen who had the chance to bat, captain Shahriar Nafees and Brad Hodge, built on the platform laid by the openers.
While Nafees ticked over the scoreboard with 28 not out off 32, Hodge provided the late surge. He hit unbeaten 38 off 25 balls to carry Barisal to 180 for 2. Andre Russell turned in a strong all-round performance, hitting 37 and taking four wickets, to help Khulna Royal Bengals beat Dhaka Gladiators by 19 runs. Chasing 176, Dhaka lost their way in the middle overs and in the end their star hitter Kieron Pollard ran out of partners. Khulna's highest stand was 71 for the third wicket between Dwayne Smith and Shakib Al Hasan. The left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain broke the partnership when he had Smith caught for 37. Shakib fell soon after, bowled by Naved-ul-Hasan. Russell entertained the crowd with two lusty blows over deep midwicket for six to propel Khulna to a score that was to test the Dhaka line-up.
